The standardised design of the works that have been and are being carried out in the city’s green areas and parks reflect the character of civil works, not gardening and landscaping.
This can be seen by looking at the distribution of budget lines for each of them.
In several of the cases studied (Parque de Aluche, El Calero, Las Cruces, La Cornisa), a high percentage of the investment goes to the «paving» chapters, which are executed with inert materials such as gravel, cobblestones and mixtures of crumb sand with hydrated lime and granite dust.
Although it may seem hard to believe, these materials are not used for footpaths or roads, but to cover the natural earthen esplanades, with the consequent impact on soil life, difficulties for the existing trees and increased temperatures in the park, as we were able to see during the Thermometry last July.
As a citizen’s response to these negligent actions, various neighbourhood groups have joined together in the «Save Our Parks» platform, which is supporting the actions of neighbourhood groups in the neighbourhoods and municipalities of the Community of Madrid, leading coordinated actions towards the City Council, the Community and the citizens themselves.
El diseño estandarizado de las obras que se han hecho y se están haciendo en las zonas verdes y parques de la ciudad, reflejan el carácter de obra civil, no de jardinería y paisajismo.
Se constata observando la distribución de las partidas presupuestarias de cada una de ellas.
En varios de los casos estudiados (Parque de Aluche, El Calero, Las Cruces, La Cornisa), un porcentaje alto de la inversión va a parar a los capítulos de “pavimentación”, que ejecutan con materiales inertes como zahorra, adoquinado y mezclas de arena de miga con cal hidratada y polvo granítico.
Aunque parezca difícil de creer, estos materiales no se utilizan para las veredas o caminos, sino para cubrir las explanadas de tierra natural, con el impacto consiguiente en la vida de los suelos, las dificultades para el arbolado existente y el aumento de la temperatura en el parque, como hemos podido comprobar en la Termometrada del mes de julio pasado.
Como respuesta ciudadana a estas negligentes actuaciones, diversas agrupaciones vecinales se han unido en la plataforma “Salvemos nuestros Parques”, que está apoyando las acciones de los grupos vecinales de los barrios y municipios de la Comunidad de Madrid, liderando acciones coordinadas de cara al ayuntamiento, Comunidad y a la propia ciudadanía.

1.-Aluche Park (Parque de Aluche)
The residents of Aluche are rebelling against Almeida’s work in the green lung of the neighbourhood. Esto, según vecinos y ecologistas, impedirá que crezca vegetación en la zona.

On Sunday 21 May, groups defending Madrid’s parks gathered in Las Cruces Park in #Carabanchel to denounce the indiscriminate use of artificial gravel, lime and concrete that for some time now has been used in the «Integral Reforms» project planned by the Madrid City Council’s Department of Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility
El domingo 21 de mayo, colectivos que defienden los parques de Madrid, se concentraron en el Parque de Las Cruces de #Carabanchel, para denunciar el uso indiscriminado de zahorra artificial, cal y hormigón que desde hace un tiempo se están usando en el proyecto de «Reformas Integrales» que se planifican desde la Área de Gobierno de Urbanismo, Medio Ambiente y Movilidad del Ayuntamiento de Madrid.
3.-Calero Park(Parque de El Calero)
Now it is the turn of the residents of Barrio de la Concepción, who suffered the same shock as the regulars of Aluche Park. El Calero, seven hectares of parkland in the district of Ciudad Lineal, has also been paved with the greyish mantle which, at least at first, they identified as cement and which turned out to be zahorra. Until recently, most Madrileños had never heard of zahorras, a type of hard greyish filler, made of compacted stones, which is currently being used in the renovation of various parks in Madrid. Once applied, it is covered with a thin layer of rammed earth.
Ahora, ha tocado el turno a los vecinos del Barrio de la Concepción, que sufrieron el mismo shock que los habituales del Parque Aluche. El Calero, siete hectáreas de parque en el distrito de Ciudad Lineal, también ha sido pavimentado con el manto grisáceo que, al menos en un primer momento, identificaron con cemento y que resultó ser zahorra.Hasta hace poco tiempo, la mayoría de madrileños no habíamos oído hablar de las zahorras, un tipo de relleno grisáceo y duro, formado por piedras compactadas, que se está utilizando actualmente en las reformas de distintos parques de Madrid. Una vez aplicado, se recubre de una fina capa de Cal apisonada de tierra.
4.-Z Moratalaz Park(Parque Z Moratalaz)
Mejora de zonas terrizas con la rehabilitación de los pavimentos terrizos, a fin de mejorar la accesibilidad a
las zonas. Los pavimentos presentaban numerosas cárcavas y escorrentías con la consiguiente proliferación de baches y descalzado de bordillos.

5.-La Cornisa Park(Parque de La Cornisa)
The Vecinas Corniseras, the group of residents in the area who have been mobilising since last summer to «save» the park, continue to call for it to «maintain its natural essence and coexistence». In this line, they oppose the grandstand and the planned stone benches that «limit everything in watertight areas, making it look like we are caged», as well as demanding that «the natural spaces should not continue to be reduced«. In September, they recall, the workers chainsawed 28 trees and in the following months «they have pulled up grass, rose bushes, bushes, they have left the magnolia trees with their roots up and have turned everything into a quagmire», explains Carmela Gómez, who acts as spokesperson.

The Madrid City Council‘s Environment and Mobility Delegate, Borja Carabante, announced this Wednesday a plan to reforest open spaces on the outskirts of the M-30, M-40 and M-50 ring roads in which more than 34,000 trees will be planted this autumn with a budget of half a million euros.

El delegado de Medioambiente y Movilidad del Ayuntamiento de Madrid, Borja Carabante, ha anunciado este miércoles un plan de reforestación de descampados en los aledaños de las circunvalaciones M-30, M-40 y M-50 en los que se plantarán este otoño más de 34.000 árboles con un presupuesto de medio millón de euros.

Árboles sin tierra. Sí ha leído bien. Una de las últimas tendencias en diversas calles en Madrid es plantar árboles en las aceras que no tienen su típico cuadrado o círculo de tierra para regarlo y que cuando vaya creciendo sus raíces se extiendan.
Esta misma semana en twitter diversos usuarios se preguntaban: «¿Cómo regaran el árbol? ¿qué pasará cuando vaya creciendo?» Incluso algunos internautas van más allá. L. A. José decía: «Parece como si lo hubieran hecho a propósito para poco a poco cargarse el árbol y que no quede más remedio que cortarlo». Blanca Sellés comentaba: » ¡Que le rodeen los huevos al que ha dado la orden de asfixiar los árboles en Madrid. A ver si le respiran!» Inmaculada G. Mardones, especialista en temas medioambientales, se preguntaba en dicha red social: «¿Dónde dejan el sentido común? El que lo hace, el capataz, el jefe de obra… »

12.-Zona Ancora, Delicias, Atocha, Conde de Casal
They have been asking for answers for months. But they only get one: silence.
The residents of Calle Áncora demonstrated this Thursday following preparations for the start of work on Line 11 of Metro Madrid. They denounce the lack of information, the damage to the environment and the lack of solutions for local businesses by the management of the Community’s mayor, José Luis Martínez Almeida, and its president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
Many people stop when they hear the demonstration. «But they’re crazy, how are people going to oxygenate without trees, without shade? Are they crazy?» commented a surprised passer-by when he heard the reason for the protest. «It’s going to be a concrete desert, we’re going to burn in the heat in the middle of summer and on top of that we don’t even have shelter, it’s madness», says another walker on hearing that 62 of the 64 trees installed in the street will be felled.

Los vecinos de la calle Áncora se han manifestado este jueves tras los preparativos para comenzar con las obras de la Línea 11 de Metro Madrid. Denuncian la falta de información, el daño contra el medio ambiente y la falta de soluciones para los negocios locales por parte de la gestión del alcalde de la Comunidad, José Luis Martínez Almeida, y de su presidenta, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
Muchos detienen su paso al escuchar la manifestación. “Pero están locos, ¿cómo se va a oxigenar la gente sin árboles, sin sombra? ¿Están locos?”, comenta sorprendido un transeúnte al conocer el motivo de la protesta. “Va a ser un desierto de cemento, nos vamos a abrasar de calor en pleno verano y encima no tenemos ni refugio, es una locura”, dice otro caminante al enterarse de que serán talados los 62 de 64 árboles instalados en la calle.
13.-Save Montegancedo(Salvar Montegancedo).

It was built in 1995 in a large part of this forest, leaving the current 70 hectares as «Parque Periférico de Montegancedo». In 2002, with an Environmental report that does not reflect the reality of its richness in biodiversity and large masses of trees, a construction project for a future luxury urbanization was approved. Without taking into account the local citizens or their consent, the approval of reparcelling is finally being adva
nced while everyone is confined at home, in the middle of a pandemic and without being able to act against this barbarity. They do it at the Pozuelo de Alarcón Town Hall.
The companies AEDAS HOMES, Pryconsa and this City Council are the interested parties and owners after being sold and reclassified by the military. The residents of Pozuelo have been fighting together with Ecologists in Action for three years and we have taken the case to the Superior Court of Justice of the Community of Madrid. We are seeing lately how they are degrading it little by little with a felling of more than 150 pine trees without reports or license, now they have made all the rabbits that inhabited and were the food of many of the birds of prey such as red kites, black, imperial eagle and vultures among others. They have not yet approved the urbanization nor do they have a license to attack the environment in this way. They assure that when building they are not going to touch the trees and with 1050 homes built in Montegancedo we see this as impossible. We have an unsigned report from 2007 where it specifies that the tree masses with this construction project cannot be touched.
En la localidad de Pozuelo de Alarcón hay un bosque nativo mixto de encinas de más de cien años y pinos de gran porte. Sus características son de bosque mediterráneo.
Se construyó en 1995 en gran parte de este bosque, quedando las actuales 70 hectáreas como «Parque Periférico de Montegancedo».
En 2002 con un informe Medioambiental que no refleja la realidad de su riqueza en biodiversidad y grandes masas arbóreas se aprueba un proyecto de construcción para una futura urbanización de lujo.
Sin contar con los ciudadanos del lugar ni contar con su aprobación se termina de avanzar la aprobación de reparcelación estando todos confinados en casa y sin poder reunirse. Lo hacen en el Ayuntamiento de Pozuelo de Alarcón.
Las empresas AEDAS HOMES, Pryconsa y este Ayuntamiento son los interesados y propietarios después de ser vendido y recalificado por los militares.
Llevamos tres años luchando los vecinos de Pozuelo junto a Ecologistas en acción y el caso lo hemos llevado al Tribunal Superior de Justicia de la Comunidad de Madrid.
Estamos viendo últimamente como lo van degradando poco a poco con una tala de más de 150 pinos sin informes ni licencia, ahora han hecho desaparecer a todos los conejos que habitaban y eran el alimento de muchas de las rapaces que hay como milanos reales, negros, águila imperial y buitres entre otras.
Todavía no tienen aprobada la urbanización ni tienen licencia para atentar así con el medio ambiente.
Ellos aseguran que al construir no van a tocar los árboles y con 1050 viviendas construidas en Montegancedo lo vemos imposible. Tenemos un informe sin firma de 2007 dónde específica que las masas arbóreas con este proyecto de construcción no se podrán tocar.
14.-Simphonia Park (Parque Simphonia)

En la misma semana que el Ayuntamiento ha anunciado que el polémico e irregular cantón de Cuatro Vientos no figura entre los doce paralizados durante la campaña electoral, la Fiscalía responde a los vecinos anunciando la apertura de expediente para la investigación de esta obra. En la misma fecha, igualmente, los afectados de Cuatro Vientos han recibido respuesta del Defensor del Pueblo, en el sentido de que solicitará al Ayuntamiento la urgente remisión de la documentación de la obra, que ha sido clasificada como “expediente confidencial”. Los cantones de basura que José Luis Almeida y el concejal de Movilidad y Medio Ambiente, Borja Carabante, construyen en Cuatro Vientos, infringen la normativa de clasificación urbanística, ya que se construyen en terreno de “uso deportivo”.
15.-Save the vineyears Park (Salvemos el Parque de la Vid)
For more than 10 years, the VID Park was an abandoned lot, with trees and vegetation, belonging to the country house. We neighbors began to meet there to walk our dogs and take care of them, ending up being a recreational place for both animals and families who came with their children to play and play sports.
As time passed and seeing that its use increased, the neighbors (7 years ago) began to make arrangements with the competent authorities for the installation of benches, litter bins, water fountains and bag dispensers to collect excrement.
After obtaining all these improvements, we finally managed to get, of the total of approximately 15,000 m2, a public park area that covers an area of 4,600 m2 and the Dog Area (10,000 m2).
From here on, the Madrid city council intervened to remove the Public Park area (the 4,600 m2) to make an irregular and illegal park, making pedestrian passage difficult, obstructing an emergency exit on the M30, paving and deteriorating the vegetation and cutting down trees. Breaking parking regulations, everything in the surroundings of the Casa De Campo deteriorating the Park, etc.
Desde hace más de 10 años el Parque de la VID era un solar abandonado, con árboles y vegetación, perteneciente a la casa de campo. Los vecinos comenzamos a reunirnos allí a pasear a nuestros perros y a cuidar del mismo terminando por ser un lugar de recreo tanto para animales como para familias que acudían con sus hijos a jugar y hacer deporte.
Trascurrido el tiempo y viendo que su uso aumentaba, los vecinos (hace 7 años) comenzamos a hacer gestiones con las autoridades competentes para la instalación de bancos, papeleras, fuentes de agua y expendedores de bolsas para recoger los excrementos.
Tras obtener todas estas mejoras, finalmente conseguimos que nos hicieran, del total de los 15.000 m2 aproximadamente, una zona de parque público que cubre una extensión de 4.600 m2 y el Área canina (10000 m2).
A partir de aquí intervino el ayuntamiento de Madrid para quitar la zona de Parque Público (los 4600 m2) para hacer un parque irregular e ilegal, dificultando el paso peatonal obstruyendo una salida de emergencias de la M30 asfaltando y deteriorando la vegetación y talando árboles. Incumpliendo normas de Parking, todo en el entorno de la Casa De campo deteriorando el Parque, etc.
16.-let’s save the Carriles(Salvemos los Carriles)
We are a group of people concerned about the environment, the quality of life in our city and the future that we are going to leave for future generations.
We do not belong to any political party nor do we want to be linked to any political organization.
We organize ourselves on this platform to defend a unique corner that constitutes a green lung for Alcobendas and all of Madrid, which
they want to eliminate to build 8,600 homes; destroying an entire ecosystem full of life, vegetation, fauna and overcrowding a city that is currently already suffering all the inconveniences of a big city: traffic jams, noise, pollution…
Los Carriles is a field that is currently in full development of subsoil forest and vegetables that arise when farmland is abandoned. There is a great variety of animals: insects, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds. . . even griffon and black vultures, kites and Bonelli’s eagles. Therefore, this field is home to a great variety of living beings and we, human beings, MUST RESPECT THEM; in addition to being able to enjoy them. Life that gives us life.
This is land that has been protecting the protected and historic Monte de Valdelatas for many years. Insufficient land, but acceptable to safeguard said forest, as it is.
We oppose construction in Los Carriles for reasons of sustainability and environmental protection, but also because the agreement to destroy this beautiful field arises in a hasty and unfair manner; with the connivance of two turncoats who failed to fulfill their commitment to the citizens who voted for them.
Our fundamental objective is to avoid the destruction of nature that generates life and gives us health, in exchange for speculation, deception, brick business and power.

Somos un grupo de personas preocupadas por el medio ambiente , la calidad de vida de nuestra ciudad y el futuro que les vamos a dejar a las generaciones venideras.
No pertenecemos a ningún partido político ni queremos que se nos vincule con ninguna organización política.
Nos organizamos en esta plataforma para defender un rincón único que constituye un pulmón verde para Alcobendas y todo Madrid, que
quieren eliminar para construir 8.600 viviendas; destruyendo todo un ecosistema lleno de vida, vegetación, fauna y masificando una ciudad que actualmente ya va sufriendo todos los inconvenientes de una gran ciudad:atascos, ruido, contaminación…
Los Carriles es un campo que está en la actualidad en pleno desarrollo de bosque del subsuelo y vegetales que surge cuando se abandonan las tierras de labranza. Hay una gran variedad animal: insectos , mamíferos , reptiles , anfibios , aves . . . incluso buitres leonados y negros , milanos y águilas perdiceras . Por lo tanto, este campo acoge a gran variedad de seres vivos y nosotros ,los seres humanos, DEBEMOS RESPETARLOS; además de poder disfrutarlos .Vida que nos da vida.
Este es un terreno que lleva muchos años resguardando el protegido e histórico Monte de Valdelatas . Terreno insuficiente , pero aceptable para salvaguardar dicho bosque , tal y como está.
Nos oponemos a que se construya en Los Carriles por motivos de sostenibilidad y protección del medio ambiente , pero también porque el acuerdo para destruir este hermoso campo surge de manera precipitada y desleal; con la connivencia de dos tránsfugas que faltaron a su compromiso con la ciudadanía que los votó .
Nuestro objetivo fundamental es evitar la destrucción de la naturaleza que genera vida y nos aporta salud, a cambio de especulaciones , engaños , negocio del ladrillo y el poder .
Si estás a favor de preservar la naturaleza frente a la barbarie
Si consideras que no hay avance ni progreso sin respetar y vivir de acuerdo con la naturaleza
Si crees que la naturaleza ya nos ha dado grandes avisos de que, si no la salvamos a ella, moriremos con ella
